Please join us for the Illinois Paddling Council’s Annual Gathering of the Paddlers, the IPC Annual Meeting and Dinner. This year’s dinner is Saturday evening, October 28, from 6-8:30pm at Emmet’s Brewery on the Fabulous Fox! River in West Dundee. Register here: IPC Dinner Registration

Our featured presentation is by Wally Werderich, a paddler on the 4-person team that this past summer, set the Guinness World Record for paddling from source to sea on the Mississippi River; a 2,552 mile journey the team completed in an astounding 16 days, 20 hours, and 16 minutes. For the mathematically inclined, that’s an average of more than 150 miles of daily paddling for more than two weeks! Wally will be sharing his experiences and stories from this world-record setting event. For a preview, view the trailer for their upcoming documentary HERE. You’re sure to be inspired! 

You’ll also hear about the newly established Fox River National Water Trail from Karen Miller, Executive Planner for the Kane County Development Department and the Illinois Co-Chair for the Fabulous Fox! Water Trail. Karen was instrumental in the years-long effort that recently resulted in the Fox River gaining National Water Trail status.

In addition, we’ll share information and invite discussion of the bill we are supporting in the next legislative session that clarifies the legal access for paddlers to Illinois’ many paddleable waterways. (see article, this newsletter).

Finally, we’ll again be awarding our Statewide Paddling Champion: the overall, points-based winner across seven different IPC-endorsed canoe and kayak competitive races across our state.

This is sure to be an event that no paddler would want to miss!

The dinner is $50 per person which includes the cost of 2024 IPC Annual membership. Current members receive a 20% discount ($40 per person).
