The Illinois Paddling Council again looks forward to exhibiting at Canoecopia 2024 hosted by Rutabaga Paddlesports in Madison, Wisconsin. We’ll be there with information and handouts and the always-popular but never-to-be-taken-lightly lowhead dam simulator, which graphically demonstrates what happens when paddlecraft attempt to paddle over lowhead dams and get caught in ‘rollers’.
In addition, they’ll have “the best selection of the season” of “more than 100,000 square feet of kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards, outdoor equipment and clothing” so it’s a great place to see the latest and best selection of paddling gear.
From the Canoecopia website: “With over 100 presentations and clinics, Canoecopia is also an educational event where you can learn about specific gear for your style of paddling, develop skills to get you where you want to go, and discover some of the many places to paddle, both near and far. If you’re interested in experiencing life on the water, Canoecopia is the best place to spend the weekend!”
