IPC Welcomes Anthea Halpryn to our Board of Directors
IPC welcomes our newest Board Member: Anthea Halpryn. One of our speakers at this year’s Gathering of the Paddlers in Yorkville, Anthea is an avid solo kayak paddler, a Level 2 ACA river kayak instructor, and Director of the Midwest Paddling Academy. Anthea also helps with the St. Charles Canoe Club. She can usually be found paddling her home river, the Fox, but paddles many rivers in Illinois, Wisconsin, and elsewhere when pretty much any opportunity arises. In addition to recreational paddling, Anthea races both solo and tandem kayaks. She and Jim Pechous finished first in the Mississippi River 150 in 2023, and she finished 9th in her class on the Missouri River 340 this year. Anthea is a veteran of several Illinois paddling races and travels throughout the Midwest and even down to Tennessee to participate in other area races. She serves on the Planning Board for the Des Plaines Marathon and now on our Board as well. Anthea resides in Fox River Grove and when she’s not paddling, she works as an event planner. Anthea has a daughter and three sons. Please join us in welcoming Anthea to our IPC Board!
